Who is Biomedikal Gangsta?
Glad you asked! I’m a PhD candidate in Experimental Pathology at the University of Utah School of Medicine, department of Pathology. We study transcription regulation in Saccharomyces cerevisiea (brewer’s yeast).
Why the hell would anyone do that? Well, since the Fact of Evolution shows that all organisms are related, we share quite a bit of fundamental machinery with our distant yeast cousins, including virtually all of the proteins that make it possible to turn genes on and off.
Enough for the background information, though…
Why did I start this blog? As a working scientist, I hold the strict rigorous and honest search for the truth in the highest regard. Myself and my colleagues have dedicated countless hours in order to elucidate the underlying truths of our natural world. We strive mightily to be as certain as possible that we are being honest with ourselves and our results, and we quite frequently are forced to admit when we are wrong.
I understand the incredible difficulty and near superhuman honesty that is required to make even the simplest of scientific statements. My intimacy with actual truth claims leaves me extremely pissed off when I hear some halfwit politician, clergyman, or layman spout off their bullshit arguments against the scientific consensus on a topic. Statements like “climate change is a hoax,” or “teach the controversy behind Evolutionary Theory” fall into this category, so I’ve decided to vent my frustration in the form of a blog. I also enjoy arguing with fundamental religionists, particularly on the CARM forums, so this blog will serve a dual forum allowing me to post what I want, when I want, simultaneously here and there.
Expect to find daily posts attacking the pathetic ignorance of the conservative/religious perspective here. Do not expect mercy. I do not suffer fools lightly.
Now go forth and think!
